Polly Toynbee talking out of her arse

In a typical Toynbee 'don't let the facts get in the way' piece in the Guardian today, amongst other blithering rubbish she states "Scandinavia has more single parenthood and yet far less juvenile crime. Why? Because it is inequality and poverty that trap families into generations of dysfunction."

Ah. Now some 25% of 'families' in the UK are single parent - the highest in Europe. Around half of the UK's lone parents are out of work. In Finland and Denmark around 80% of lone parents have a job. We pay about £4bn a year to workless lone parents in benefits - income support in the main. In the UK single parents have no obligation to seek work until their youngest child reaches 16. The Scandinavian nations do all they can to keep single parents in work and in the labour market.

So doubtless what Polly meant to say was "Scandinavia has less single parenthood and yet far less juvenile crime. Why? Because it is Welfarism that traps families into generations of dysfunction."

She is right on one thing, though. Brown is an autistic zombie, unable to connect emotionally with voters, whilst Cameron's easy public manner and compassionate 'one nation' approach appeals to voters throughout the political spectrum.

Scandinavia (which lefties talk about as though it were some monolithic entity rather than a vague geographical expression) now occupies a place in leftist discourse that, prior to the fall of Communism, was occupied by the so-called "socialist countries" of the Soviet bloc.

"Scandinavia" now and the "Socialist countries" then serve/d as a leftist shorthand for the "Worker's Paradise" that could be brought about if only we implemented *more* leftist policies, meaning *more* tax, *more* state, *more* centralism and *less* liberty.

In both Polly's Scandinavia of the now and Ken Livingstone's "Socialist Europe" of the 1980s, the realities of life in these imaginary ideal socialist societies are either misunderstood or willfully misrepresented.

This raises a question in my mind: are people like Polly and Red Ken really that stupid or are they misanthropic bastards who intentionally want to destroy all that is good about life?

Both.

The Scandinavian males only have Abba hits going thru their heads. They cannot figure out the 'name of the game' as they are pushed out the door with guaranteed visiting rights to the kids.
Without a sane mind to defend itself, Islam has cut directly into Scandinavian society without even waking the beast, to drain the Welfare System of their blood.
And as always, the French will capitulate first.
