Abbot's bigotry is from another age

Dianne Abbot usefully demonstrated yesterday how out of touch she is with modern Britain and how much we've moved on since the days of Gene Hunt and his Quattro and Abbot's stalled development. For most people in the UK today, except for a few deluded and out-of-touch politicians, race isn't an issue. Abbot therefore sounds like some old golf-club bore longing for the return of Empire and proper race distinctions.

I shall file her future pronouncements under 'witless'.

Rarely pay attention to Abbot, she is too annoying.

"Shadow Health Minister Diane Abbott has apologised for any offence caused by comments she made on Twitter*, after claims they were racist."

Perhaps she is institutionally racist?

Apparently she twatted "White people love playing 'divide & rule".

Twat!

Yes, most left wing institutions are institutionally racist. You don't have to go back too far to find trades unions banning black workers; and more recently we have lefties from all over the place quoting the mantra "positive discrimination". What on Earth does that mean? Positive discrimination? The more you say it, the more absurd it sounds. Discrimination ,is discrimination and there is nothing at all positive about it.

Abbot: "White people love playing 'divide & rule".

Apparently it was during a discussion of 18C colonialism.

According to Abbot, her use of the present tense in her comment was unintended. Tends to suggest underlying prejudice concealed by a veneer of egalitarianism.

"Discrimination" is a positive value when we discriminate between the competent and the not so, between good and evil, between value for money and junk, or between those who deserve a place at university on merit and those who are granted special privilege. Non- discrimination is the primary reason for the fall in educational standards, and the ensuing debasement of morals, ethics and much else.

On the contrary. As western societies continue to break down thanks to the disaster of third world immigration, race will become more of issue, not less. Race-blind individualism is great for prosperous, stable, racially homogeneous societies but is much less relevant for unstable, racially heterogeneous societies. (The racialization of American politics is already well underway with the Republicans now as the implicitly White party and the Democrats as the (now almost explicitly) non-white party. Britain and the rest of Europe will follow. Non-white groups already have a healthy sense of ethnic collectivism and self-interest. It's whites who have to catch up with the times if they don't want to be royally screwed in the coming century.

Her future pronuncements? Havent you been listening. The woman is an idiot and has been saying shit like this for years.

But I dont care that she's an idiot. She can (and should be able to) say what she likes. Were it not for all the twats on twatter I wouldnt ever have known. So why does anyone care?

Raedwald is right. But I hope something good will come of her embarrassment. We have become quite hysterical about such solecisms and need to be adult enough to recognise that, however regrettable, some mild subliminal prejudice about anyone not exactly like ourselves or our immediate group is almost universal. It should be something to dissolve by laughing, as at the golf club bore, rather than by persecution.

Funnily enough, before Ms. Abbot made those Twitter remarks, one Fraser Nelson had written (following the Lawrence bluster in the MSM), "Poverty , not colour is the dividing line"…

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/8995295/Poverty-not-colour-is-the-real-dividing-line-in-modern-Britain.html

Without really reading the article, I just thought…. NO, that is not the dividing line either… What separates us all, and what causes almost all division is government…

The dividing line is between 'them' the ruling class / political elites… and us… everyone else.

Ms. Abbot should of course be entitled to her own nutty views about 'race', what she should not have any power over, is what other people say and believe… Unfortunately as a fully paid up member of the ruling class, she does.

It is the very recent 'divine right' of the PC (aided by Pravda, and communitarianism in general) that has caused so much anger in the blogosphere and so much political disengagement by the vast majority of ordinary hardworking folks, and this must change.

Speaking as a mere male, I have to admit that “divide and conquer” is something that has occurred to me on many an occasion. To be honest though, in the modern world, I believe that quite a few ladies appreciate the treatment too.

Might Abbott be wishing for the return of the Ottoman Empire, perhaps with western extension?

Anon 18:15 "Grounds?"...we could grind her but drawing and quartering would suffice. However, sections 17 - 29 of the Public Order Act 1986 are the grounds: intentionally provoking hatred of a racial group, distribution of racist material to the public and inciting inflammatory rumours about an ethnic group, for the purpose of spreading racial discontent.

Span Ows: " intentionally "

Is where your charges would fail.

Not because you are wrong, I am sure she knows exactly what she is doing, even the odious Lee Jasper observed that her demagoguery is politically popular among her constituency demographic - but because there is no one in the judiciary with the spine to hear the case.
