Ukraine becomes a Rogue State already

Well, it couldn't last. On Sunday, Ukraine's 'acting Interior Minister' from Julia Tymoshenko's Fatherland party, Arsen Avakov, reportedly ordered the assassination of fellow coup plotter Aleksandr Muzychko from the neo-fascist Right Sector party. Muzychko was gunned down in Rovno, Western Ukraine, by police allegedly acting under orders from Tymoshenko's chum Avakov, perhaps with the sanction of the blessed Julia, the favoured candidate of the fragrant and accomplished Catherine Ashton, an unelected EU official.

Further assassinations and tit-for-tat Mafia style retributions are expected as Ukraine's new Failed-State self-appointed government starts to self destruct less than a month after it received the support of the EU, NATO and the US. As billions of IMF and EU money are set to flow into the country, it is suspected that a turf war has broken out over who gets their snouts in the newly refilled trough first.

You're right: "Further.... retributions are expected" - almost certain, I'd say; but not to be seen on BBC until Kerry, Ashton and, maybe, messenger boy Hague have got their story line ready.

There's the rub. Our money lavished on gangsters who are only too aware how to manipulate the obsessive and hubristic expansionism of the EUSSR and US establishments.

Not forgetting the 5 billion that Victoria Nuland told the Washington Press Club that Uncle Sam has already spent on destabilising the Ukraine plus the hundreds of millions known yo have come out of EU coffers and the "known unknown" of Germany's Secret Service and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung - that's enough to have bought an awful lot of politicians - but they'll be ready for more.

Entirely predictable by anyone with half a brain - which rules out the EU Kommissars.

(As is the situation in Egypt). All that emotion over the Arab Spring and what is the result .... 500 people from the Opposition given a death sentence.

Unless, of course, it was a Russian "hit"?
Ever thought of that - especially given previous form?

Greg - it wouldn't be out of character, but not this time. The Interior Ministry have admitted they did it, albeit saying that the guy had 'resisted arrest'. Witnesses say he was bundled into a car boot alive (and clearly killed where the body was found - with two close range shots to the heart).

Good find Radders.

This guy was clearly a violent, unpleasant nutter, and if people like that have any influence at all in the new government then Putin's overreaction starts to seem less like an overreaction and more like a half-justifiable action...

However unpleasant he was and however the world is a better place for his passing, that cannot justify judicial murder - as you rightly say the hallmark of a rogue state.

Having said that, he was SUCH an unpleasant man and a dangerous thug, that there may very well be more to the story than meets the eye.

C Ashton's disconfiture would normally be a cause for celebration but Ukraine is too tragic for that.
