Ground all flights to Africa NOW

There are anything up to half a million West Africans in London, and spend a day at Heathrow or Gatwick as the Lagos flights roll in and you will see them like seasoned commuters, the baggage conveyors full of those red and blue plastic fabric jumbo bags strapped in clingfilm and filled with God knows what. Children. Bushmeat. Ganja. By allowing these flights to continue from the heart of the world's Ebola epidemic we are playing Russian Roulette with one of the world's great cities and its 8m people.

The fight against Ebola is quite rightly one that needs a full commitment from the developed world; it is, on humanitarian grounds, a global human shared responsibility. It must also be fought in Africa. Firstly, Cameron's asinine programme of foreign aid funding must be switched rapidly to disease control at source - without the opportunity for African crooks to skim funds. Why the hell we're funding India of all places defeats the intellects of all but Cameron's deluded coterie. Secondly, all direct flights from Europe to Africa must be grounded. The trip from Lagos to London must for the immediate future be made by passenger ship alone. With a passage time extended to over 21 days - the incubation period for the disease - Europe's Port Health Officers can hold ships at anchor until the disease has either done its job or the human cargo are safe to land.

The Winter seas in the Mediterranean will help as a natural disinfectant as the boat traffic from North Africa is halted. This will give Europe respite until next Spring to tackle the epidemic.

Sure, there will be wealthy Africans who will travel internally to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States as a way round the travel ban - but when the governments of those nations know we're serious about blocking their air travel, too, they will help prevent it.

Above all, Cameron must act now - today.

Not a hope of Cameron blocking flights from the infected areas of Africa.

But he will find £billions MORE in Aid to help fight the disease.

He won't cut aid to India; it would be an admission that throwing money at countries which don't need it was a stupid policy in the first place.

I don't think that he will want to see a significant part of the London/UK population to fall significantly...

...It will cause a rise in the wages, which is precisely what happened after the black plague eventually died down, and we can't have that can we?

Since the smoking ban on aircraft, the cabin air is approx 90% recirculated, whereas before it was 90% fresh. The air filters do not trap airborne viruses and there is growing evidence that Ebola has mutated sufficiently to be spread by aerosol droplets. So if just one infected person onboard, perhaps yet to show symptoms, coughs or sneezes...
It's almost inevitable the disease will arrive at Heathrow before Camoron and his team of idiots act - they do not have the intelligence or courage to take the necessary but unpopular decisions needed to prevent the spread.

They should at least do this.
Start screening passengers from W Africa.

THe one role Government can and should play that we all agree on is to act decisively an cases such as this to protect us who pay their salaries and perks.

The calibre of a government can be gauged by its reaction in such a case, and unsurpringly Cameron is found wanting.

Milliband would do no better of course, the problem is the whole goernment machine which is more geared to micromanaging the daily life of the tax payer than to doing its most fundamental duty.

A plague on the bastards.

India is NOT the worst case.
We are giving "aid" to Pakistan.

Don't bother poor Davey boy--he and his ugly old hag May are too busy with plans to spy on us and create a new (electric) blackout culture to worry about silly sniffles from Africa.

Sadly Cast iron Dave wont do anything.
To stop direct flights from these countries would be "racist".
Much better that we stand shoulder to shoulder with our African brothers and start losing people(poor people only, natch)to this horrible disease.
sarc off.

Northeastern University places the UK second in the list of countries it believes will fall victi. To Ebola, well ahead of France or even Spain. However I am sure this will leave our fearless, clueless and hopeless leadership untroubled by the need to act.

Political Correctness wins hands down mate, Dave would never be allowed to ban W African flights - think of what the Gruaniadistas would scream - WAYCISM!

I'd have shut down access to London for all of Western African's upon the immediate announcement of said outbreak. I thought - that is going to be a bad outbreak - this is not 1976 and London is now a third world shit hole and fetid at that, ripe for something very nasty to take hold[already there - some may say] - whichever way you look at it.

The big problem is, we have a government which clearly does not give a flying toss about Britain nor the British people - just look to Rotherham or, the new cover up in Manchester, PC wins again - and 'we the people' don't count. Curse TPTB for, we are cursed because of them.

Stop flights from £agos are you mad? Africa's biggest economy and an oil producer to boot. Would be bad for business. You'll want to quarantine Croydon next ...

Never mind Raedwald, you have the security of knowledge that the population is protected by a "world-class" health system in your "world-class" city. Show some faith in its abilities and BoJo's management expertise.

camoron of course is relaxed because he has not one, but two country homes to remove to if plague comes to the city. His criminal lack of action may yet revive the need for plague pits.

Yeah, right, screen all the arriving flights but let the hordes cross illegally at Dover - hordes that include many, many West Africans.

That'll fix it......
