So sue me, Mister Rahman

Lutfur Rahman, Mayor of Tower Hamlets, is a chiselling crook, a bent and fraudulent opportunist who has perverted the voting process and conspired to steal public funds. I feel quite safe in writing this - Rahman is under investigation by the Met, who would probably already have sufficient evidence to charge most folk, but are making sure they have a cast-iron, waterproof case before taking him down. Andrew Gilligan has also been doing Sterling service in the Telegraph's pages in exposing Rahman's bent and crooked dealings.

Whilst Rahman's short criminal reign in Tower Hamlets can be quoted as evidence that Localism doesn't work I would offer the countervailing analysis - his fate has proven that it does. His bent deals will be unwound, illegally sold property will be restored, and some assets recovered from the Muslim groups that benefited from Rahman's corruption.

Moreover, having let him run-on before taking him down provides perfect, racist-free justification for tightening voting and accountability rules - to the public good. And it's proven to Rahman's cohort of supporters that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated in England.

So all good, as far as I can see.

The problem is Raedwald...

The Met won't be able to cope with this case, too complicated for them, and they have to worry about being declared institutionally racist...

What we need, is a crack investigatory authority...

Er, how about Fifa?

I quite agree, except for a little bit of foreboding that he hasn't been taken down yet... and the forces against "institutional racism" in the met are very strong. He may yet get away with it. After all, he is only importing the practises of the subcontinent and it is racist to suggest that is in any way morally inferior. We must respect the unique cultural differences in Tower Hamlets you know. Besides, you-know-who might just start kicking off with shouts of Allahu Akbar, and we don't want that...

Tower Hamlets; Rochdale; Rotherham; they are all the same. Poisoned by Pakistani Muslims to the dreadful detriment of England as a whole. Then again, we have to consider why it is that this has been happening with full and factual knowledge of authorities from local and national executives. Why would they stand by and allow Lahore style corruption and allow rape of under-age girls? Go on; I urge you to think about it some more until you arrive at the right conclusion in your own mind.

Not quite ....
Certainly in Rotherham (& Sheffield?) it wa the S Yorks police who sat around & did nothing, because, all too obviously, they were protecting someone (or a group) under orders.
Shades of the Geoffrey Dickens' missing papers problems & Special Branch seriously bullying journalists.

Something stinks, up near the top, somewhere....

Following the farce over the counting of vote (over a period of five days) in the last election, any sensible government should have immediately declared the poll in Tower Hamlets null and void, and ordered another election to be held. Furthermore, they should have demanded special measures for that election, including a new register of voters (to be completed within one month and overseen by non-residents of that borough), no postal voting, and ink-dipping of fingers. It is preposterous that the scandal of almost certainly fraudulent elections in Tower Hamplets has been allowed to fester for so long.

In Britain.....

Those stupid bastards also called the taxpayers, we pay a bunch of infants and stuffed shirts called the Electoral Commission to oversee and ensure all ballots are above board and not subject to interference and tampering.

LO! - Jenny Watson the boss of said operation glides on imperiously on her Nineveian Quinquerieme...... in a majesty and entitlement only the champagne Socialists can - and completely oblivious, telling all concerned, "we see no problem!"
All of that, is the fucking problem - Dave allows them [electoral commission] free rein and no censure whatsoever.

Banana republic? Nope, it becomes more like, a Pakistani shithole everyday.

Wait for "Call me Dave" to make a speech in which he promises to "tackle the problem". Then we will know for sure that nothing has gone wrong, and that this is the new "Gold Standard" of local governance to which all must aspire.

Is Tower Hamlets in fact any worse than any number of socialist rotten boroughs around your cities? Newham is certainly no better, Liverpool seems just as corrupt.

Crooked property deals, indolent police "forces" and favouritism seem to be prevalent in many locations.

White collar crime has always been particularly successful, the current bizarre climate related to race and justice where favoured groups have been exempted from prosecution of many crimes for fear of claims of "racism" adds to the difficulties.

I do not share your confidence that justice will be seen to have been done.

Need I remind you Raedwald that the demographic future for this group is sound; a majority minority throughout the West Midlands is little more than two decades away, and 40 per cent of the under 25's in England will be muslim 2050.

They won't be voting LibLabCon, or UKIP.

Postal voting must be all but abolished except for the genuinely house bound, armed forces abroad and those going on business or pleasure trips. I do not want third world political behaviours in the UK.

You are a fuckwit.
This "demographic swamping" trope was trotted out in the late 1950's too ....

( You might have to exterminate a few RC priest whilst you are at it, of course, because their attitude to women isn't much better than islam's. Oops. )

That would indeed be good, but there are too many other places where the stink of electoral corruption is unmistakeable - large areas of the suburbs of Birmingham spring to mind.

The rot started when Blair (who else?) downgraded the postal vote from a very rare and hard-to-justify exception to a commonplace standard option, thus opening the flood-gates to creatures like Rahman.
