HOW many times do they need telling?

Danny Alexander is one of the more obtuse cretins infesting Whitehall, it seems; his launch today of a new plaque to appear on public capital works just repeats the sort of stupidity Mr Alexander can't understand. OK, just one more time: The government doesn't have any money. All money spent by government is from tax - including borrowing, which is just future tax. These works are taxpayer funded.

This is supposed to counter the EU's propaganda plaques which claim that money spend on projects in the UK has been given by the EU.

The EU has no money. It takes ours. Then it confiscates half of it for its own self-aggrandisement. Then it gives us the rest back to spend on projects the EU wants .... not the British people.

Then the final insult is - it REQUIRES a plaque to be displayed celebrating its generosity.

Neither the EU nor the UK Govt have any money. They have OURS. And they waste it.

Even the sainted Margaret couldn't get this message across, Radders, there's not much hope for you.

But keep trying.

It isn't to counter the EU; it is intended to counter the SNP, who love to tell Scots that things are "funded by the Scottish Government."

In that respect I'll forgive them this one.

And the government wastes time on this trivial bollocks - be sure voter, who exactly is trying to bribe you..

At the same time, another council and police force, this time in Oxford, is shown to have gratuitously failed to defend the weak...

Fucking hell this country is fucked...

Common sense says you are correct, however the reality is that modern government has unlimited funds because it has unlimited taxation power - and the morons intend to keep using it!
The governments even buy "their" own debt now.
It's about time banknotes stated the obvious-We promise to pay the bearer on demand-fuck all, this pretty piece of paper is worth essentially nothing.

I Like the "comic sans" in the picture Raedwald...

A childish font, for a childish libdum?

OMG ! someone used comic sans ! Lets all sneer at a perfectly legible font to show how trendy and sneery we are..
let's all point and laugh and let people think we must be gay designers for making such a fuss about something so trivial.

Who is sneering Haddock...?

Looks like you is the only one...

As I said, I thought it was clever, and if it was accidental... serendipitous.

There is no doubt that comic sans has a poor reputation and is regarded as somewhat childish (especially when used by some trendy teacher)...

So when Raedwald crosses out the official, and fills in with the CS, it looked (to me) like a clever choice...

Forgive me if I am wrong Mr. R.

Oh, I can take any amount of adverse comment - but just on a technicality it's actually a font called 'Architect's Daughter'

It does look a bit like CS, though

who is sneering?.. all of those who think they are better than everyone else because they sneer at a typeface. Most do not have a clue why they do, only that it's fashionable to do so. It is called 'comic' so, according to the right-on critics it must never be used in a serious article/book/website... the sort of people who point and mock and type OMFG!!! and ROFL!!! LMFAO!!!!1!!
My guess that as it was a MS invention all of the trendy Mac users decided it was bad.
The worst font choice is the default for Windows where, for example, the file named explorer.exe can contain three variants of the tall character so allowing viruses to sneak past a visual inspection of filename.

Different subject Mr. Haddock...

I was not sneering at anything, as I explained...

I wonder if you are the same person as the Haddock that used to infest the UKIP forum?
