Crap Chinese tests and OCD

Just two observations this morning - one critically important, the other of minor interest. The first of course is the news that the WHO has been talking bollocks, as they say. Even after their early failings, their palpable negligence, their misdirection to the world at the behest of their Chinese masters, one still paid some regard to the warnings and advice of the WHO. The most frightening of their warnings a week or so ago was that mankind might not develop immunity to the Wuhan virus. This was based on a number of cases in which those who had recovered from Chinese flu were subsequently tested positive for a second time. As the speccie reports, it turns out this was due to faulty and inaccurate testing. "Ah sorry lads" says the WHO "as you were. Turns out these crap Chinese test kits are all duff haha". This just reinforces a resolution on my part to deal with anything that comes out of the WHO in future as I do a K-Tel advert. Their claims may be true, but I wouldn't bet on it.

The second is one of those tiny nuggets that sometimes manage to penetrate the woke blather that the World Service has become, in this case the testimony of an American OCD sufferer who has been wholly vindicated by the Wuhan virus. For years he's been disinfecting door handles touched by others, maintaining infection-free distances and cleaning, bleaching, disinfecting, wiping and mopping from dawn to dusk to keep the microbes at bay. There was a touch of validated pride in his voice as he proclaimed that he was right all along, and the entire world is just catching up with him. More poignantly and realistically, he said that we now all know the anxiety he's suffered all his life, at people breaching social distance, at being forced into microbial risk situations, at people coughing. Every cloud, as they say. The world's OCD sufferers can now behave as their instinct drives them, masked, gowned and gloved, armed with Isopropyl alcohol sprayers and boxes of tissues, wholly unselfconsciously and free of public ridicule. Even the bloody virus can do some people a good turn.

One issue which has come out of all this, is the fact that there won't be so many common colds permeating the citizenry.

Now the worst period for catching the blasted things is nearly over, maybe the stats are still flawed in respect of symptoms - coughing, streaming etc., so for me and Senora O'Blene, we're grateful for that!

And din't we all used to laugh at something as disgusting as 'bird's nest soup'...

It could indeed have been down to faulty tests, but as yet there is no conclusive proof of that either.

No one has the faintest as to how long immunity - if there is any - will last either.

Now, do as you're told by your leader and get that bleach down you.

I have some sympathy for the OCD guy, I am a sufferer and a long way down the road from "normal" but fairly mild compared to your example today Raedwald.

JPM, sometimes you do hide a gem amongst the pap:
"No one has the faintest as to how long immunity - if there is any - will last either."

Exactly right.

HOWEVER, sprayed in shit as to almost go unnoticed:

"It could indeed have been down to faulty tests, but as yet there is no conclusive proof of that either."

So far I think about 10 countries have reported on the faulty Chinese test kits, maybe you missed that.

"Now, do as you're told by your leader and get that bleach down you.

Has your leader told you to do that? I haven't heard that from any leader.

An interesting article on vaccines:

It would appear that the length of immunity is a known question and ways of mitigating that are well understood. We cope with annual immunization for 'flu after all.

Of course I can now excuse myself for being a serial 'crap collector' (as my wife calls it) as the stuff I've collected over the years finds ever more useful purpose in this lock down!

Shame JPM can't stop his serial crap posts though....

The meeja is in the doldrums, save up Friday's stories for the colour sups. My weekend paper getting thinner, hardly enough to light the fire.

A line from today's paper 'There are between three and five million people furloughed. A lot of them are actually jobless, they just don't know it yet'. An unhappy scenario to be rolled out everywhere.

Then a picture from Hong Kong, a busy street with crowds of folk going about their business. Business recovery is rising in the East and slowly moving West. Africa and the ME will recover next. Bad strategy to slag off the WHO, it will be there long after Trump and his pals are gone. A free gift to China.

Then another rag has artists impressions of future air travel. Isolation, blood tests, masks, plastic shields and barriers in the plane and on the beach. They cannot be serious, just not worth doing. If you thought last year's queues at checkin and security were bad..... But Wizz looks like going again, if you want Hungary and Bulgaria. Personally I am thinking about digging my own tunnel to France, could be done before HMG gets its testing regime in order.

Chinese clap for the NHS?

I too have noted several people commenting in my local rag who are seriously handicapped. The tone is of exaltation at those of who strain at house arrest and wish to inflict it indefinitely.

Unfortunately they're the first to vote on online polls to do so until a vaccine is developed and delivered to every soul on the planet.

Knowing this I am extremely sceptical of people like the Chief Medical Officer because Britain cannot wait until new infections go to the hundreds.

You are perfectly within your rights to "slag off" the WHO, as is Trump. Not fit for purpose and way far too costly, both in financial terms and lives lost.

And Trump is perfectly correct to question the medical profession, or rather their talking heads. They too are loathsome in their stupefying arrogance. He's got Quinine and now this vaccine that speeds recovery in previous hopeless cases.

He never said bleach, he said disinfectant - and for those of us who actually watched the clip, he then went on to say that the medics could check up on it, with a wry smile on his face.

Various news outlets have twisted that to their own ends. Most quit when a few people tried to self medicate orally. But that whole thing started in Iran when a Mullah suggested it to wash their hands - unfortunately word of mouth (common in Iran) resulted in it being misinterpreted, whether honestly or willfully and 13 people are known to have died of drinking the stuff.

It's not in the least amusing. It's base, malicious and thoroughly despicable. Disrespect... deserved.

You need to watch this, and I suggest the whole fifty minute presentation, in order to understand how you've been taken for a ride by the British Broadcasting Corporation, et. al.

Snake Oil Update

1st nursing home to treat COVID-19 with Hydroxychloroquine

Dr. Armstrong and others at the Resort at Texas City nursing home knew time wasn’t on their side.

“Two of our residents had symptoms and that’s when we tested everybody,” said nursing home Executive Director Jan Piveral.

56 residents and 33 staff members were COVID-19 positive.

“Our Goal was to make sure we could shelter them in place so we don’t spread it to other people,” Armstrong said. “Then also at the same time treat them so they would get better.”

Armstrong says he knew residents who ended up in hospital had a higher mortality rate.

“Our goal was to keep them here and treat them with the medications we had available,” he said.

When Armstrong began administering Hydroxychloroquine it was controversial, but appeared promising.

“If we didn’t make the decision quickly then we could potentially lose 15 to 20 per cent of the residents which was not an option,” said the Doctor.

Armstrong’s approach was to begin administering Hydroxychloroquine, Zpac and Zinc just as soon as a resident first started showing symptoms.

The patients were being monitored daily.

“We did ECGs on each of these patients to make sure they didn’t have the cardiac side effects that everyone talks about,” Armstrong said. “None of our patients did.”

Armstrong doesn’t call the Hydroxychloroquine a cure and is aware of all the recent reports that say the drug shouldn’t be used to treat COVID-19.

But he points out only one of the nursing homes COVID-19 patients has died.

“Everyone who got on treatment who started on treatment is actually doing really well,” he said.

Thanks Steve, good updates. As we've said it is not a cure* but prevents the illness getting worse and allows better recovery.

The naysayers always use this word to denegrate any anecdotes that give hope, that and Orange Man Bad.
